At TRIUMF, routine radiation measurements of many kinds are made with a variety of instruments to assess the hazards due to external radiation, and to prevent the uptake of radiation in the body. Environmental monitoring is done to confirm that the operation of TRIUMF has not caused a significant increase in the natural background levels in the vicinity of TRIUMF.
